Welcome To My Blog

“People of conscience need to break their ties with corporations financing the injustice of climate change” Desmond Tutu.

Hi, and welcome to my blog. I just wanted to start by introducing myself and my blog. My name is Alex and I am a 17 year old A-Level student from the UK. I am currently studying Economics, Geography and Maths for my A levels, with the ambition of furthering my love of Economics and geography, combined, at university.

I decided to create this blog as a platform for me express and develop my thoughts about both economics and geography. A space to share my responses to the news and to extra readings, but also my essays and independent projects.

I currently am the leader of the eco-committee at my school, and hope to share some of the successes, and challenges, that I will experiences as I drive towards making my school a more environmentally friendly place.

My passion for the environment has developed as a consequence from initially choosing GCSE geography, but then furthering this to A level. However I am beginning to become more enthusiastic in the area more specific to the cross over between this and my other A Level subject, Economics. I find the link between practical environmental issues and the theories and policy making of economics fascinating, especially with the increase of awareness off the trade-offs between these different objectives.

I hope in my future I will be able to make a difference to the state of the environment for future generations, but from a more influential position, using a top down approach, but still with interdependencies and sustainability in mind.

However I find myself not merely restricted by the environmental concerns within economics, but I am enjoying the other aspects of economics, inspiring me to read further into different branches within economics, as well as trying to keep up with the news.

I guess that is all for now, I hope that you enjoy my posts 🙂
